prism

Our silence is a rich one, sown with an understanding which, when cultivated with care and true empathetic attention, grows us together, closer than anything we could ever speak. In that moment, we draw a power from within ourselves to see beyond the world around us, and come together instead, meeting in the worlds both within and between us.

The notion of opaque solidity melts away into the nuances and shades of our secrets and intimations, a love and friendship and trust that transcends the basis of what we see everyday. This is you and me.

I have no words but for you, and in such, I find that in your case, I need none.

Cleveland National Bank stuns Wells Fargo 84-69

Washington D.C. (AP)---Wall Street bracket busters started early this year.

Once noted as a possible takeover target for First US Bank, Cleveland National Bank knocked top seeded Wells Fargo out in the first round of the Treasury Department's stress test Friday night.

Cleveland National raced to an early lead, driven largely by their emphasis on small capital losses last year, dwarfed by Wells Fargo's multi-billion dollar write-offs. "When you only have $14 million in deposits, and 82 customers, it's hard to lose a billion dollars," noted 78 year old Cleveland guard John Williams.

Previously top ranked Wells Fargo becomes the first bank to be nationalized this season, losing for the first time since 2006.

"It's very disappointing," CFO Howard Atkins said. "We came in fired up with our latest victory over Citi in getting Wachovia, but we just didn't execute. Losing in the first round is hard to take."

shelter

we are all damaged, waiting for someone to take us away before it's too late.

still.

One of the incontrovertible facts of life is that, no matter how hard we may fight it, no matter how hard we push or pull or will it to not be true, our lives are fleeting. We're constantly swept forward by the tides of time, and when we can find ourselves in the perfect moment and delude ourselves into believing it can last forever, we wake up and discover that life has passed us by.

I'm a big fan of photography. It's a bit of life, caught in the act and dipped in the river Styx. Almost, just almost, immortal. We can't live the moment again though. Memories are mortal. They dwell in our minds, growing old and weary, before fading away. When we live in the past, we lose ourselves. We lose each other.

The reason that we promise ourselves to each other is so that we don't have to live in the past. We keep our memories and we treasure them, but it's something else to know that when we wake up today and the next day and the day after that, there will be new memories to be made, and new moments to live in. Each day, we learn to feel again.

Love is the coalescence of the moments wherein your soul peers out into the world, and recognizes itself reflected in another.

the alternative

"I don't think I would want to marry you."
"Why not?" He scoffed a little. "Besides, who said I wanted to marry you anyway?"
She paused, "Because... I read somewhere that 50% of all marriages in America end in divorce now, and I wouldn't ever want to divorce you."

---------------------------------------------------

"I still can't believe..." she stopped mid-sentence and grabbed his hand excitedly, "Listen! Listen!"
He looked at her blankly. "What? What am I listening to?"
"They're playing the same song they were playing when we first met!" Seeing the look of confusion on his face, her excitement turned to frustration, "You don't remember, do you? Of course you don't. Why do I even bother?"
"No," he admitted, "I don't remember the song. But I remember that you were wearing that red dress that you had bought two weeks earlier, but almost didn't wear because you were afraid it would be too flashy. I remember that you were upset because you had misplaced your favorite scarf, and I remember that your hair smelled like lavender. In fact, I don't remember anything about where we were or who we were with that night, because all I remember about that night is you."

---------------------------------------------------

They were falling.
"Hold on to me," he had told her, "Just hold on to me, and we'll be okay."
The way a raindrop shivers on the precipice of gravity, they had clung to each other. But now, they were falling.
"Let go," she had whispered, "We'll be okay. Let go."
Falling. It was terrifying, exhilarating. She wanted to scream, but knew not whether it was out of fear or ecstasy. They fell together, head over heels, tumbling into each other's souls.
